Thoughts on Beauty Rental Shop (Mobile)

Main Post:

I was so happy to find this new release of Day7, an otoge maker I've been really into these days (creator of Marked by King Bs and Sleeping Delivery). And boy was I deeply let down after finishing 2 routes. Here are a few of my thoughts on this game:

  • Translations: The game doesn't contain as much swearing as MBKB but the misspellings and awkward translations are way worse, making it so annoying to follow the story.
  • Content: I've only finished Soren's and Lucian's routes so far, and I have the feeling that they are trying too hard to add some mysterious vibe to the game, but it fails and is so frustrating. They do not explain anything about the causes of the drama (like at least some character background, or what the LI true feelings are). Everything is rushed and forced in an illogical way - how did MC suddenly solve everything in 1 sentence (how Lucian returns to the past to save himself), what does the cat have to do with these LIs, how LIs just suddenly come up with cutie nicknames for MC in only 2 chapters... I know Day7's style is short stories so they don't develop extremely dramatic twists, but at least in their last 2 games it's well-written, and the emotions are there. This new game...I feel absolutely nothing towards the LIs, although I can be satisfied with lots of cheesy plots. Oh and also, the plot has barely anything to do with MC being a witch, and the beauty elixir's function is no more than customizing MC's look, because all guys recognize her although she changes her face everyday.
  • Gameplay: I still have no clue how to get the Sad Endings!!! I tried to take off special costumes and get the worst answers, but everything leads to Normal Endings.
  • MC character: Dull. Super dull. Even though in their other games, MCs are also somewhat similar, this MC is next level. She won't stop whining that she is an ugly witch, and she acts extra clumsy. Yet the MC buff is so strong that all the guys like to stay with her from the beginning. Conversations with Lucian are horrible, it's full of them teasing each other in a new language. I'm fine with shy MCs but this one really irritated me.
  • Artwork: Great as usual, art is definitely Day7's strength. However, you can see clearly that they don't have many expressions per character anymore, probably because they spend all resources on MC's 48 faces?

TL;DR: In general, I recommend you stay away from this game, especially if you never played Day7's games before. To me, Beauty Rental Shop is like a recycled draft of Marked by King B's.

Top Comment: they spend all resources on MC's 48 faces TFW you ask an otome company to give MC eyes and they spend all their time on her. Thanks for the review though! After playing MBKB, I am really wary of spending more time on any of their games. The art really is gorgeous but I do wish they invested more into the translations.

Looking for insight into starting a salon suite rental business.

Main Post:

I have the opportunity to lease anywhere from 2,000 - 4,000 SF in a brand-new retail center that faces a major highway and is next to several houses and apartments. I know the landlord so that the lease will be on favorable terms.

I've been considering building it into several suites and renting the rooms, but I don't have any experience with this. I've done preliminary research, and it seems to be a good idea (especially with the lack of these salons near me), but I wanted to get some other experienced opinions on this.

I have a friend who owns a salon in a different city, and they were supportive even though I'm in the preliminary stages. My biggest fear was keeping the suites rented, but my friend said that wouldn't be an issue with competitive pricing and a good location, which I plan on having both.

I guess from your experience, what can someone expect from this type of business? Is there anything I should look out for or research more heavily before moving forward?

Right now, I'm scouting similar salons within a 15-mile radius to see how they operate and what their prices are, and I am working on the floor plan for my potential salon.

I would appreciate any feedback.

Top Comment: Starting a salon suite rental business typically involves the following steps:Research: Research the local market to determine demand for salon suite rentals in your area and identify potential competitors. When it comes to conducting research, please note, I'm a vendor, so I'm rather biased about my own product, and will say that online market research is the way to go. For context on my product: Pollfish is a mobile survey platform that allows businesses and researchers to collect data from a panel of participants via their smartphones. It can be used to conduct surveys on a variety of topics and to reach a wide range of demographics. One of the benefits of using Pollfish is that it allows you to reach a large, diverse panel of participants quickly and easily. Additionally, because the surveys are completed on mobile devices, they can be easily taken on-the-go, which can increase response rates. Feel free to check us out. Business Plan: Develop a business plan that includes a financial projection and marketing strategy. Your plan should include information on your target market, pricing, projected revenue and expenses, and your long-term goals for the business. Funding: Secure funding for your business. This can include personal savings, small business loans, or investors. Location: Choose a location for your salon suites. Look for a high-traffic area with easy access and parking.Design and build: Design and build out your salon suites. This will include installing plumbing, electrical, and HVAC systems, as well as creating a floor plan that maximizes space and allows for privacy. Hiring: Hire staff, if necessary. This may include a receptionist, cleaning staff, or maintenance personnel. Lease and contract: Develop lease agreements and contracts for your salon suites. This should include details on rent, utilities, maintenance, and any other responsibilities for both landlord and tenant. Marketing: Develop a marketing strategy to promote your salon suites to potential tenants. This can include advertising in local publications, creating a website, and networking with local beauty professionals. Manage and maintain: Properly manage and maintain your salon suites. This includes collecting rent, providing customer service, and addressing any issues that arise. It's also a good idea to consult with attorney, accountant, and insurance agent to understand legal, financial and insurance-related aspects of your business.
